Getting started
This page takes you from installing the theme to a finished storefront, in order.
1. Add the theme
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store › Themes.
- Open the Sienna Beauty listing on the Shopify Theme Store and click Try theme (free preview) or Buy theme.
- Sienna Beauty is added to your theme library. Click Customize to open the theme editor.
- When you're ready, click Publish. Your current theme stays in your library, so you can switch back at any time.
2. Brand basics
- In the theme editor, open Theme settings › Logo and favicon. Upload your logo (a transparent PNG or SVG works best), a light version for dark backgrounds and a square favicon (at least 32 × 32 px).
- Open Theme settings › Colors to adjust the five color schemes. Every section lets you choose which scheme it uses. See Colors.
- Open Theme settings › Typography to pick heading and body fonts from the Shopify font library.
3. Menus
- Go to Online Store › Navigation (or Content › Menus) and edit Main menu.
- A top-level item with links nested two levels deep turns into a full-width mega menu. One level of nesting shows as a simple dropdown.
- Edit the Footer menu, then choose it in the footer's Footer menu block.
4. Products and collections
- Images: use the same aspect ratio for all product images (portrait 4:5 suits Sienna Beauty) and add alt text to each one.
- Swatches: open a product, edit an option such as Color, and choose a color or upload an image for each value. Turn on Show swatches in the variant picker block.
- Collections: create collections by product type (Cleansers, Serums) and by concern (Hydration, Sensitivity). The home page sections can show both.
- Ratings: install any product reviews app that saves ratings to the standard
reviews.ratingmetafield, then turn on Show product rating in Theme settings › Product cards.
5. Build the home page
Sienna Beauty's default home page includes a slideshow, stories, collection list, featured collection, image with text, routine builder, collection tabs, ingredient spotlight, icons with text, testimonials, FAQ, blog posts and email signup. Replace the images and text, or remove sections you don't need. To add a section, click Add section in the editor's sidebar. See Sections for every option.
6. Before you launch
- Set up Settings › Markets and Settings › Languages if you sell internationally. The country and language selectors in the header and footer appear automatically. See Languages and markets.
- Add a contact page: create a page and choose the
page.contacttemplate. - Add your policies under Settings › Policies. They are linked from checkout and can be added to the footer menu.
- Place a test order to check your payment and shipping settings.
